Mine. Some passages were back-filled to the roof by the miner.
These rarely went into a further extension of the mine but we still need to
check this by careful excavation of sufficient space to enable exploration.
Here Todge does the digging while Steve stands by with a specially designed
Wizard skip to take away the fill.
(Left) The result. The explorer crawls up the passage to see where it goes. Unfortunately, as expected, this turned out to be a trial passage and ended in a blank wall.
