Handing
out lights and helmets. Andy (standing) being helped by Kieran (sitting) at the entrance to Wood Mine
where lights and helmets were issued to visitors in September 2003.
All
visitors bought tickets at the main display before going to the mine
entrance. The youngest visitor to the mine this year was just 3 weeks old.
(Left) Underground trips. A group of visitors on the bridge in North End Chambers in Wood Mine. This area is normally floodlit on Open Days but we do not light the whole mine so that visitors can experience for themselves how the mine looked when it was being worked.
