ROWTER HOLE, Derbyshire

Rowter Hole is located above Castleton in the Peak District.  The entrance is a vertical mine shaft into part mined and part natural passage.  The Club has worked on Rowter at various times over the last 40 years.  The picture shows the entrance with Mam Tor in the background (click the image for a full page version).

The Club has dug in the mine at various times and produced a survey in 1983.  The image here is a rough copy of that survey which will be enhanced in the future.

In the meantime, if anyone wants to have a better copy, contact the .

The latest digging session was in December 2000 which proved very interesting.  The diggers planned to return in 2001.
