Nigel has agreed to lead a trip around West mine, where he will be talking about anything and everything from interesting geology features to the newsworthy goings-on at the Edge in the early 20th century. Nigel has suggested 3-4 hrs, hence the slightly earlier start of 18:30.But that's not all!As you are aware, the magic of Alderley Edge has inspired many tales and texts. Two of these texts, "The Weirdstone of Brisingamen", written by Alan Garner and "Dim Grey King", attributed to Brian Hampson have produced wonderful maps and tales to accompany you on your journey around West Mine.Olly has taken a detailed look at these texts and compiled a wonderful document that combines interesting anecdotes and surveys from these texts, as well as our own modern-day names of area, which has culminated in a west mine trip full of lore and intrigue.The document is in draft form (almost complete) and so (if time allows) we are hoping to use this trip to follow in Hampson's footsteps along the Dim Grey king trail, maybe take some photos to accompany the text.And as promised, I will bring tea and cake!
