Open Days. In the last few years of the 20th century, the DCC started to hold regular Open Days in the mines when people could turn up and visit the mines to see the work the Club members were doing and to get a taste of caving for themselves. Demonstrations include practical experiments in making and using stone tools and in extracting copper metal from the ore. Note the gloves and safety glasses to meet health and safety standards. The third child keeps well out of the way behind a protective chair. |
