VIRTUAL TOUR OF Engine Vein

This is a picture of the current entrance that was originally built in 1982 and then enlarged in the 1990s. You are now in the entrance passage which was probably tunnelled in the nineteenth century to provide an easier route into the mine avoiding the open cutting. Apart from a branch on the left (looking in) which used to connect to the mine further down, there is only one way to go - in which is westwards. Of course, you could also go out again to the east.

Please note that this tour involves over 250 locations already and getting pictures and writing text for them all is taking time! There may be some blank pages in the tour but keep pressing the Next Stop button and the trip should take you round the mines. The public tours are shorter than the Club members' tours.
