Deep Ecton mine, has been mined since the Bronze Age, and in the 18th century was a major producer of copper, and the deepest mine in Britain. Trip is a fairly easy one and barring exceptionally wet weather wellies will keep feet dry. No crawling but a climb up the ladderway from deep Ecton to Slats level is an option. Trip usually takes about 2.5 hours. The mine is only a little grubby and I normally do not bother with an oversuit.I would suggest meeting in the layby at 10.00 with a view to going underground by 10.30.** All attendees complete an indemnity form (see attached) and make a £10 donation to go towards upkeep *****Party limited to 12 visitors with BCA insurance***
