Roman coin hoard found at Pot Shaft

At Alderley Edge…

During excavation to stabilise a subsiding shaft at Engine Vein, a hoard of Roman coins was found in a pot about 2m below the surface. This added impetus to the AELP and also led to the shaft beng proved to be Roman and Engine Vein being scheduled as an ancient monument.
