At Alderley Edge…

The Hough Level between Wood Mine and Engine Vein was explored from Stump Shaft. At this stage, there was no access to the level from the Edge, Engine Vein itself, Brynlow, Field Shaft or Wood Mine. Digging started at Stump Shaft which eventually provided access from Wood Mine.
